Hermiaca came into existence through a simple, innocent, comment: “you should make the partners of GCIO into characters too…”. A gauntlet thrown down by a member of our Human Resources Internal Communications team, as you can probably tell by their department’s acronym being part of Hermiaca’s name. Serendipitously, a portion of her name spells “Hemia”, the Greek female form of “Hermes”, which means “messenger”, which seems appropriate for the department. Hermiaca’s construction is unique in that it is composed of both the old and the new. She is powered by the Crystal of Creativity, located at the center of her Curved Cranial Compartment. In front of the compartment are dual cameras & projection system and a 15-channel speaker bar. At the four corners of her shoulders rest RGB spotlights, used to highlight all the extraordinary things the teams do every day. If she was rotated around, you would see her chest and torso are based on a high-resolution Jumbotron display. Her arms and hands are built on a piston and hinge system which allows them to retract and fold into themselves when the need arises to use the Jumbotron displays on her sides. At the center of her base, you will see paper trays and a hardcopy output slot. Why, in the age of digital technology, would Hermiaca be created with this antiquated technology, you may ask. Simple, it’s because sometimes you just want a hard copy. Speaking of antiquity, did you notice that her horizontal movements are provided by wheels from an antique printing press. On the bottom of her base, in both the front and rear, you will find vertical adjusters. They use magnetic pulse waves to keep her centered and balanced. When she turns around you can see the rear Jumbotron display and at her rear base are horizontal thrusters. To date, the thrusters have only reached a speed of Mach 1.5. Anything faster would make it appear as if she was rushing. |
