E3PO

The birth of 3CPO started innocently enough. A project was ramping up called “Employee Enrichment, Experience, & Performance Opportunities”, and her name became apparent through its acronym. From there, as the legend is told, it was recommended by a person, who shall remain nameless, but sits at the highest level of the organization, that a member of the project team should contact me in search of a mascot. However it happened, a person I worked with for many years drew the short straw and contacted me with the request. After giving me the backstory of the project, I set to work on some ideas and the 3CPO you see today is a result of that.

The first thing you may notice is that she has a bit of a resemblance to a bee. Yes, this was intentional. I got the idea based on when my partner in crime and I sat across from each other at headquarters, and she had picked up the nickname “Queen Bee”. After that, the functionality was the easy part. Her antennae became “Employee Experience Detectors”. The visor that she wears has the added ability of being a “Possibility Spectrum Analysis Visor”. Her optimism manifests itself in 3CPO’s perpetual smiling ”Expectation Indicator”. The honeycombed display panel she wears is a “Hive of Opportunity Matrix Display” to alert others to the multiple resources available to them. The “Belt of Experience” she wears around her waist has LED bars that light up to indicate knowledge levels of those she encounters. Lastly, her base contains a “Destination Transporter” and “Directional Thrusters”, because like the human she is modelled after, E3PO can be in one place at one moment, and gone the next.
